February 15, 2023 Regular Meeting
Call to Order
President Stephanie Guerrero called the February meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Board members present were: Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. Absent: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Jeff Stahl.
Administration
Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, SVP Principal Bethany Wellbaum, SVI Principal Kristina Sommer, SVMS Principal Jonathan Downing, and SVHS Principal Jonathan Field.
Pledge to the Flag
Mr. Downing led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Hearing Officer
Josh Hilbert moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to appoint Stephanie Guerrero as hearing officer for the discipline hearing. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Executive Session
Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:04 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Closed Session Adjournment
Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:32 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Closed Session Minutes
Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Termination
Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to terminate Dylan Moore as an At-Will Custodian effective Thursday, February 2, 2023. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Employment
Matt Wood moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to employ Nancy Dale as a volunteer Assistant Middle School Track Coach for the 22-23 school year. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Consent Agenda
Josh Hilbert moved and M seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Superintendent’s Report
Mr. Meadows discussed the following items with the Board:
HS backup boiler repair
HS brick facade work
HS Boys Baseball trip
23-24 Enrollment Projection
Pre-K Screenings
Principals Bethany Wellbaum, Kristina Sommer, Jonathan Downing, and Jonathan Field each presented their building’s School Improvement Plan to the Board.
MS Girls Basketball Cooperative
Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the Middle School Girls Basketball Cooperative with Tri-City with Sangamon Valley as the host school for the 2023-2034 and 2024-2025 school years. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
School Calendar
Matt Wood moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to approve the 2023-2024 school calendar as presented. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
FFA Convention
Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the FFA to attend the National Convention in Indianapolis from November 1st through November 3rd, 2023. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Adjournment
The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for March 15, 2023 at 6 p.m. in the Boardroom.
